Omission of 760 per month step in the salary scale of Superintendent of Gardens, Development Secretariat.
1.
The approved scale for this post under the Salaries Revision is $720, 720, 760 x 40 to 1,000 x 60 to 1,300 (with an Efficiency Bar between 960 and 1,000).

In your confidential telegram No. 678 of 15th June, 1948, you approved the omission of the $760 per month step in the third year of the scale for Administrative Officers, and in your confidential
telegram No. 679 of the same date you approved a like (271)
omission in respect of the scales for Labour Officers, Forestry Officers, Superintendent of Fisheries
Research and Auditors, all of whom begin at the same point on a similar scale.

The Conditions of Service Committee has recommended that the scale for Superintendent of Gardens should now be brought into line, with a consequent reduction in the time scale by one year. I agree with this recommendation and should be grate- ful to have your approval for the omission of the $760 step in this scale, in respect of which the approval of Finance Committee has already been obtained.
